I have arranged for one of our DOCs, Keith Hardisty to take the boys through training this Wednesday. I will be absent due to work commitments. Training will occur at the same time as usual.
I will also be away for two games on 28 June and 25 July and will need to rely on one of the other parents to put the team on the field.

At the end of the first round of games. we have seven points. It is a good chance to review how we have been travelling.
In terms of competitive play, we could easily be in the middle of the table. I’m sure that everyone agrees that no team from the table leaders down is vastly better than Coomera. The better teams have one or two quality players who tend to tilt the balance in their direction. We are now not conceding the number of goals that we were earlier in the season, so that is something to be proud of. We are getting goals but not getting away the shots on goals that we need to.
There is no team to dread playing, we can beat any team.
The foci for the team are:
- taking up many more scoring opportunities with earlier and longer shots on goal
- dominating in the mid field and controlling aerial balls
- tweaking around defensive roles
- focus on one on one techniques eg cutting behind – lots of small tussles at training
But without scoring more goals, we will not move up the table.
I top half table position beckons for the second round and then on to knock on the top four club. It can be done when we unlock to key to scoring.
Hi Everyone,
Our treasure has advised that all fees must be finalised by the end of May. Players will not be able to play the following week unless the complete amount is finalised by that day.
I do not have a list of who has paid and who has not at this stage so please ignore if you have paid.
If you have difficulty with paying please see our President Roy.
We have a number of players who are capable of playing in the goal keeper position but no-one who wants to dedicate themselves as a full time goalie. At the moment, we have five to six players who can be rotated through the position for around a half every two to three weeks.
Players who play in goals will generally be the only players to get a full game that week. If we have three reserves, all other players can expect a quarter of the game on the bench. This is as fair as can be. Whilst people may believe that we should have our strongest team on the field each week, all families pay the same amount and their boys are each as keen in coming to games and training so a fair game time approach will continue.
Players will only get less time because of behaviour or otherwise letting down the team. Players may expect less game time or being dropped for game(s) due to any breaches of the player code of conduct. All players that do the right thing in coming to training and trying hard for the team will receive fair game time regardless of their ability. Players won’t improve without game time. As the players are in the 12s, they can still expect to be tried in different positions as developing players for the next year or two.
I am relying on my notes for a report on the Merrimac game. Please leave a comment if I get anything wrong.
We travelled to the Italio – Australia Club for a strong tussle against Merrimac. Once again, the boys did us proud and should hold their heads up high against all teams. Our defence was strong and they fought hard. Jalen and Troy worked hard in the goals and again we had our share of attacking moves, this week with Scott in the central front position.
We take away the message that we need to shut the opposition down sooner in the midfield.
A solid game once again as we went down three – nil.
Our boys continued to work well and proved themselves as capable of being in the top four in the table. I continued to rotate some boys into different positions but also to match capability into team positions. Callum and Aaron performed admirably in the goals for this game. Jalen performed well off the bench and Roy did well in defence. All the boys contributed well to what was a creditable result. On paper before the game, going down 2-0 would have been a reasonable expectation. As far as the run of play went, we could feel disappointed not to take some points from this match against a top of the ladder team.
In the end Coomera 0 Tamborine 2
